Easy Salt Dough Christmas Tree Decs
Why not make your own Christmas Tree decorations this year, using our very easy Salt Dough recipe. This is such a pear-fect project for a chilly day and much more sustainable than most decorations you can buy. Keep them for your own tree, or they make lovely gifts, an alternative Secret Santa present maybe?
Ingredients
-
250g plain flour
-
125g table salt
-
125ml water
(You can also use a cup or mug for the ratio – one whole cup of flour to half of salt and water.)
Method
-
Line a baking tray with baking paper and preheat the oven to 80 degrees (fan).
-
Place the flour and salt in a large bowl, mix and add the water. Stir with a fork until it comes together, then use your hands to make a ball.
-
Lightly flour a work surface and roll out your ball of dough. Use cutters to make shapes and place on the baking tray.
-
Use a straw to make a small hole for ribbon in each of the shapes.
-
Bake for around 3 hrs, until they have dried out and are solid.
-
Leave to cool and then paint (any kids paint is fine).
-
Cut 15 cm lengths of ribbon, thread through the hole and tie the ends together.
-
Hang on your tree!
