🚶♀️ Our top 5 tips to make family walks actually fun 🚶♀️

Let’s be honest: the idea of a wholesome family walk sounds lovely in theory. In reality? It’s 47 minutes of finding wellies, negotiating snacks, and reminding everyone that “yes, we are going outside even though the sofa is comfy.” But it can be fun. Promise. Here’s how to make family walks a little less “Are we nearly there yet?” and a little more “Can we do this again tomorrow?” (Yes, miracles do happen.)
1. Snack Bribes Are Not Cheating
Scrapples in your pocket = instant motivation. One for each gate you go through. One for every grumble-free five minutes. One for the adult who remembered the wipes. We’re not saying Scrapples are magical... but your child just walked a whole mile without complaining. You do the maths.

2. Make It a Treasure Hunt (With Very Low Standards)
Who says treasure has to sparkle? Find a stick that looks like a sword. A stone shaped like a potato. A leaf that could be a dragon’s wing. Congratulations, you're now 12 minutes in and no one’s asked to go home yet.
3. Give Your Walk a Theme
Safari walk (count dogs, squirrels, imaginary tigers) • Spy mission (talk into your sleeve, wear sunglasses, be very suspicious of every bin) • Sound safari (who can hear the weirdest bird?) Themes = distraction = walking happens.
4. Be Weird. The Kids Will Love It.
March like soldiers. Pretend the pavement is lava. Do a silly walk past every lamp post. You’ll look ridiculous to strangers. But to your kids? You’re the absolute coolest

5. End with a Picnic (Even if It’s in the Boot of the Car)
Seriously. Even a snack on a bench makes it feel like An Event. Bring water, bring Scrapples, bring wipes (always bring wipes). You just made memories. The kind your kids will totally remember forever. Or until next Tuesday.
So go forth, pack the snacks, and embrace the chaos.
